Spend your Saturday evenings with world-renowned artists as they play everything from Indigenous works to the latest sounds from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Los Angeles! Latin Sounds is presented Saturday evenings from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Vocalist Carol Bach y Rita is a singer with a broad international outlook. She is conversant in five languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. With its rich music and dance history that contains elements of African, Portuguese, and other European influences, Bach y Rita was ineluctably drawn to Brazilian rhythms. Writing about her recent release Minha Casa/My House, Ken Frankling of Jazz Notes says, “She seamlessly blends her love of Brazilian music, bebop, and straight-ahead jazz, [and has] found artful ways to add unusual swinging feel to a variety of tunes.”
