National Night Out

National Night Out at Poinsettia ParkAll community members are invited to attend our free National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Poinsettia Recreation Center.  Come out and meet your neighbors - and your local police officers - in a safe and fun setting.

Sponsors of this National Night Out event include Mid City West Community Council, the LAPD Wilshire Division, Target, Krav Maga Worldwide, Melrose Action Neighborhood Watch, and POWER 106 FM.

There will be plenty of free food including a BBQ Cookout, free beverages, activities for kids, classic LAPD police cars on display, LA Fire Department safety demonstrations, self-defense classes, live performances, and a free raffle with some great prizes.  A dozen community groups will have booths, including Melrose Elementary School, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Wilshire Community Police Council, and the LA County Sheriff's Department.

In addition to music performances, you will hear remarks from newly-elected City Councilmember Paul Koretz, County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, LAPD Wilshire Captain Eric T. Davis, and other officials.
